Climbing Timer: How to Time Your Climbs and Rest Breaks
Short answer: A climbing timer is a countdown timer you set for a climb or a rest break, so you know when to start and stop without watching a clock. Use the free Countdown Timer on Bsks: set the minutes, press Start, and the bell tells you when the time is up.
How to use a climbing timer
- Open the Countdown Timer on Bsks.
- Set the time in the Hours, Minutes and Seconds boxes. For example, 5 minutes for a rest break, or 18 minutes for a timed climbing block. You can also use a preset: 1, 5, 10, 18, 25 or 30 minutes, 1 hour, 90 minutes or 150 minutes.
- Leave the bell sound ticked so you hear the end of the interval.
- Press Start. The display counts down, the progress bar fills, and the browser tab title shows the remaining time.
- When the time ends, the bell sounds and the page shows "Time's up!". Press Reset to set the next interval.
Tips for timing climbs and rests
- Use a short preset, 1 or 5 minutes, for rest breaks between climbs.
- Use the 18 or 25 minute preset for a focused climbing block.
- Keep the volume on so you hear the bell at the end of the interval.
- The tab title counts down, so you can keep the timer visible while you check another tab.
